Corrientes 980 Street Caffé of the Federal Capital
Was popularly known as "The Cathedral of Tango"

It was located in Corrientes Avenue between Carlos Pellegrini and Suipacha street. ( In Buenos Aires downtown)
The musician Francisco Cafiero composed a tango for piano called
"El Nacional"
Dedicated to Mr. Salgueiro Hnos. (Salgueiro Hnos.Inc.)
He touched many of the best orchestras of the time.
Attended to him, among other major characters: John D'Arienzo and Anselmo Aieta.
He was especially popular in the 1920's.
He made his debut there sextet Vardaro-Pugliese in 1929, and Osvaldo Pugliese own orchestra in 1939, Also made his presentation at Bs. As. Ace. Singer Mercedes Simone.

La catedral del tango

The tango´s catedral was fund in 1919 by youth from Villa Urquiza Areawho had the idea to make a club, but they did not have chance to get the necessary´s funds.

The history tell us that tose young people wnt to the race track with a hope of strike of good luck and got agreement if they win they´re were going to buy a piece of land and fund a club. The name of the horse that they were played was “sin rumbo” (without bound), that´s why the name of the club.

During the 20´s the tango has been grown stronger popularly in Buenos Aires and Villa Urquiza was getting their own way of dancing Vich make to create a very famous dancers partners. That´s why in 1968 the famous tango´s step “two by tour” was baptized by “La Catedral del Tango”.

Sin Rumbo hosted bands and prestigious performers, populars musics from the 40´s decade and furthers on, like Juan Dárienzo, Carlos Di Sarli, Carlos Varela, Alberto Castillo, Roberto Florio y Jorge Casal, etc.

Another also famous performance were Maria Nieves, Juan Carlos Copes y Miguel Angel Soto.

The task that the club has outlined is to recovered the tango for the newgenerations also that youth be able to know about the dance, the slang, and the performance of the time, triyng to get a closer generationally where grandchildrens talk with grandparents about the tango.

Currently the club is runs as a retired center where they´re organize turistic tours and activities for the 3rd age.

The club is proude of being the place were Robert Dubai filmed the movie “Assecination Tango”, and where himself learned to dance tango.
